You can use e-mail services of 2MHost while host your website elsewhere.
This setup called Mail-Only Hosting, Mail-Only Hosting is when you host your website with website building platform like Wix, Squarespace, Shopify or similar and want to retain your e-mail hosting service with 2MHost.
When you sign up with Squarespace for example, they will give you several options to connect your domain name to their platform, the only option that 2MHost supports is to keep DNS managed by us and modify domain's A record to point to the builder platform IP address.
To be able to use 2MHost as mail provider you need to set up your Domain and DNS as follows:
1. Point your domain to 2MHost's name servers:
ns1.etcnameserver.com
ns2.etcnameserver.cm
This step will let you be able to configure your domain name DNS zone from cPanel. If your domain is already registered by us, this is already set up.
2. Update the A record to point to the website building platform's IP address. We can assist with this or you can do it yourself via cPanel > Zone Editor.
3. Update DNS records for email:
- Set MX record to point to our server hostname (e.g., s119.etcserver.com).
- Set CNAME record for mail.yourdomain.com to point to our server hostname (e.g., s119.etcserver.com).
You can get your server hostname from your admin area > choose the domain name > advanced tab.
4. No changes are usually needed in your mail client (e.g., Outlook, iPhone). If using IMAP or SMTP, ensure you use mail.yourdomain.com instead of yourdomain.com or use the server hostname as mail server.
That's it.
What if you want to manage DNS elsewhere (not using 2MHost name servers)?
If you manage your DNS zone elsewhere and don't use our name servers, you can still use our email services. However, you'll need to update your MX records correctly, which requires technical knowledge. We don't provide support for this setup. If your mail stops working, and we're not managing your DNS, we may not be able to assist with technical issues.
